- When necessary, VSA automatically reduces the engine’s torque and uses the ABS system to apply brakes to each wheel as needed, to help stabilize the vehicle.
- The response is so quick that the instability may be corrected before the driver even knows it’s occurring.

The 2009 Acura TSX gets a whole new look with the current model year. Colorado area Acura admirers may be interested to take note of the summary description from Edmunds.com that writes, “The 2009 Acura TSX is a compact entry-level luxury sedan available in one well-loaded trim level. Standard equipment includes 17-inch wheels, xenon HID headlights, foglights, a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilt/telescoping steering column, an eight-way power driver seat with memory, a four-way power passenger seat, leather upholstery, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a 60/40-split-folding rear seatback. Also standard are Bluetooth and a seven-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, auxiliary audio jack and a USB port. In published information from Acura the TSX is described as being lower, wider, with some appealing curves to the previous model’s chiseled lines. The bold, new Acura-family grille begins a theme of sharp edges and contemporary shapes that continues around the vehicle’s exterior, conveying a sporty, sophisticated design.
- Flared fenders over each wheel provide a muscular stance.
- Xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, a front chin spoiler, and large air inlets contribute to an aggressive appearance.
- Subtle details, such as thin A-pillars, integrated side-mirror signal lights, dual exhaust outlets and elegant chrome accents exude an aura of luxury.
On the inside the new TSX continues its long-held reputation of providing elegant, yet functional interiors. The look is modern and sophisticated, and everything has been designed to enhance the art of driving.
- Metallic-finish trim sweeps from the doors to either side of the center console, defining a dual-cockpit design.
- The center control panel extends forward to keep everything well within arm’s length.
- A three-dimensional treatment to the gauge cluster makes for easy readability.
- Floating needles on the gauges enable additional information to be displayed in the gauge centers.

Brake Assist helps the braking system operate most effectively during an emergency situation by ensuring that sufficient brake pressure is being applied.
- The system uses a sensor to monitor the speed at which the brake pedal is depressed.
- When emergency braking is detected, Brake Assist steps in to ensure the ABS system is activated.
- Brake Assist only engages when needed and terminates immediately upon release of the brake pedal.

With the Variable Flow Turbo (VFT), Acura has devised a simple, yet elegant solution for reducing turbo lag. The result is the instant and steady power delivery of a much larger engine, while retaining the light weight and cruising efficiency of four cylinders.
- At low rpm, a long valve smoothly narrows the incoming passage and speeds the exhaust flow, keeping the turbine spinning quickly, so there is plenty of turbo boost at low rpm.
- As rpm rises, the valve opens, allowing the increased exhaust volume to flow freely through a second intake chamber, keeping turbo boost high.
- The forced intake air is cooled through a top-mounted intercooler, making the air denser and allowing it to burn more powerfully.

According to published information from Acura, frequent washing and waxing is the best way to keep your Acura car or SUV looking showroom new. Acura recommends the following steps to preserve the finish:
- Park in the shade. If the vehicle was in the sun, let it cool before washing.
- Spray the vehicle with cool water to remove loose dirt.
- Fill a bucket with cool water and a 1/2 capful of mild detergent.
- Wash the vehicle with the water and detergent solution. Use a non-abrasive cloth or sponge. Rinse the washed areas before they dry.
- Remove any sap or road tar with a formulation made specifically for that purpose. Carefully read the label to be sure that the product will not damage paint. Rinse and re-wax the area even if the rest of the vehicle doesn’t need waxing.
- Dry the vehicle with a chamois or soft towel. Air drying causes dulling and water spots.
- Wax the vehicle if water stayed on the hood or roof in large patches. Water forms beads or droplets on cars with adequate coats of wax.
- Apply a high-quality liquid or paste wax according to the instructions on the container. If the paint has a build up of “road film” that won’t wash off, use a combination cleaner/waxer instead. Choose a non-abrasive cleaner designed for today’s two-step paint finishes, which are topped by a clear, protective coating.

The 3.5-liter VTEC V-6 engine in the standard TL produces an impressive 280 horsepower and 254 lbs-ft. of torque, while delivering estimated EPA mileage of 18 in the city and 26 on the highway.
- Superior breathing from the VTEC® variable valve timing and high-flow exhaust systems improves both power and efficiency.
- All-aluminum construction, a hollow camshaft, and other weight-saving measures keep the larger engine lighter for better handling.
- The Drive-by-Wire throttle system provides a precise balance of smooth and responsive by adjusting throttle sensitivity to varying driving conditions.
The 3.7-liter VTEC V-6 is Acura’s most powerful production engine ever built, rivaling the output of many V-8s. Dishing up 305 horsepower and 273 lbs-ft. of torque, it delivers a smooth, responsive feel, thanks to significant weight- and vibration-reducing measures.
- Magnesium cylinder head covers with hardened aluminum cylinder sleeves help improve vehicle balance and power-to-weight ratio.
- A forged crankshaft results in lower weight and increased strength.
- A high-flow exhaust system increases the engine’s power efficiency.
- EPA estimated mileage is 17 / 25 (city/highway).
